Our 5 Connected Services

Our clinicians conduct pro bono forensic medical and psychological evaluations for people seeking asylum and people who are detained or incarcerated. We document physical and psychological evidence of torture, persecution, and harm in custody in written affidavits and reports that attorneys can submit as evidence. When a case calls for it, our clinicians provide oral testimony in legal proceedings.
You can submit a request for a forensic evaluation or clinical testimony via this link.

A forensic evaluation is often the first time a client has been seen by a curious clinician in years. We do not stop at the report. Our case management team connects clients to ongoing medical and mental health care, and helps address the needs that shape long-term health.

Forensic skills: trauma-informed interviewing, physical and psychological documentation, and assessing credibility and consistency
Written and oral testimony: writing clear, defensible affidavits, and preparing for direct and cross-examination
Health and the law: how legal systems shape health and health equity, including immigration, incarceration, disability, and housing
We also offer trainings for legal partners on working with clinical experts and understanding medical evidence. If you wish to request a training for a cohort or institution please contact us at operations@chicagopeoplesrights.com

Our cases are completed in learning cohorts. Newer clinicians and clinical learners work each case alongside experienced forensic evaluators who provide direct clinical supervision and mentorship from the first interview to the final report. This model means every client receives a carefully reviewed evaluation, and every volunteer builds lasting skills.

Our senior clinicians provide clinical consultation to attorneys and legal organizations. We can help your team review medical records, understand a client's diagnoses, identify when a forensic evaluation would strengthen a case, and prepare to work with medical evidence.
