Our Team

PMLC is powered by volunteers: clinicians, trainees, coordinators, and community members who give their time and skill to this work.

Maddie Bowler

Clinic Case and Volunteer Coordinator

Maddie Bowler (she/her) is the Clinic Case and Volunteer Coordinator. She acts as a guide for our clinical teams through the lifecycle of each case. She serves as a liaison between our volunteer clinicians and legal partners, helping ensure that each team has the resources, communication, and support they need to provide our high-quality forensic evaluations and medical declarations. As a Licensed Social Worker, she also supports clients throughout their legal proceedings and connects them with ongoing mental and physical health services. Her background spans across housing justice, disability rights, prisoner rights, and global health systems.

Izzie K

Student Coordinator

Izzie K. (she/her) is a second-year medical student from Houston. Before going to med school, she worked as an EMT in street and apartment-based medicine and volunteered at a syringe exchange. Izzie also worked with community-based organizations to distribute wound care, naloxone, and safe use supplies in rural communities. In college, Izzie worked with assault survivors navigating the Title IX process and often reflects on trauma, accountability, repair, and anti-oppression through an abolitionist lens. She is grateful for the opportunity to develop medical-legal advocacy skills at PMLC to fight for the health and dignity of her neighbors and community.

Ahana Gupta

Student Executive Director

Ahana (she/her)is a 4th year medical student at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Since joining PMLC in 2022, she has been honored to watch the organization grow and expand its capacity to meet the need for justice-oriented forensic work across the country. Being part of PMLC has shaped her understanding of what it means to build networks of care, and she hopes to continue contributing to such efforts throughout her career. In her free time, she enjoys reading, exploring global cuisines, and spending time with loved ones (including her ferret nephew).
