Case intake for legal partners

We accept referrals from attorneys, DOJ-accredited representatives, paralegals, and legal organizations representing adults or young people who are:

  • People seeking asylum or other humanitarian protection or immigration relief

  • People held in immigration detention

  • People who are held in pre-trial detention, state or federal prison, or juvenile detention.

At this time, we only accept clients who have legal representation. Referrals are reviewed and accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Where we evaluate

  • In person, in the community: for clients living in the Chicagoland area

  • In person, in custody: inside detention centers and prisons in the Chicagoland area

  • Telehealth: remote evaluations for clients outside the Chicagoland area

How it works

Need a consult instead?

  1. Submit a referral through our case intake form. Include your client's basic information, the type of evaluation or consultation needed, language needs, and your filing or hearing deadline.

  2. We review and match. Our coordinators review each request, and cases are accepted on a case-by-case basis. Accepted cases are assigned to a learning cohort led by a supervising clinician.

  3. The evaluation. Clinicians meet with your client in person or by tele-health, with an interpreter as needed.

  4. The report and testimony. You receive a signed affidavit or forensic report. Our clinicians are available for oral testimony when needed.

  5. Ongoing support. Our case management team follows up with your client to connect them to long-term care and support.

Please refer as early as possible. Most evaluations take [10-12 weeks] from referral to final report. We do our best to accommodate urgent deadlines but cannot guarantee them.

If you are not sure whether a forensic evaluation would help, request a clinical consultation through the same form.
